PASADENA, Calif. (WLNS) – Roses never smelled so sweet.
"It's the best day of my life," said Daniel Ley. "It really is."
Michigan State football fans have waited 26 years for the Spartans to bring home a Rose Bowl title, making Wednesday's victory over Stanford in Pasadena one MSU fans will always remember.
"I'm a die-hard Spartan fan," said Heath Smythe, 28. "To win a game like this is really emotional. It's great to see all the fans out. It's a day I'll never forget."
MSU supporters came to Pasadena from all over the country for the big game, and did not leave disappointed. But the last five minutes of the game had fans on edge as they worried if Michigan State could hold its lead over Stanford. "We have the best defense in the country, but at the same time I was a little nervous," said Jason Roose, 37. "I was nervous but I wasn't scared. I had faith in the guys."
And some fans are already taking that faith and looking ahead to a future Rose Bowl appearance for the Spartans.
"We came. We saw. We conquered," said Michael Ramsay. "We're glad to be here and we'll be back again. Spartan Nation, this is what we are, this is what we do, and we'll be back.
