Snow, Cold Close MSU

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Add mid-Michigan's largest school to the list.

Michigan State University has suspended classes on Monday because of the snow and cold.

A major storm is expected to drop 8 to 12 inches of snow on the area - and when the snow ends, temperatures are expected to drop to zero. Wind chills will be -20 or worse.

MSU says it is switching to emergency procedures, and that only employees who perform "critical functions" should show up for work.

All campus events have been suspended and all university buildings will be closed to the public. Libraries and intramural facilities will be closed, as well. Classes at medical campuses in Grand Rapids, Clinton Township, and Detroit have also been called off.
The university says students who don't live on campus should not come to campus, and that one dining hall in each "neighborhood" will be open to feed students who live in the dorms.
