A snow emergency has been declared in the City of Lansing in the wake of the arctic blast that dumped more than a foot of snow on parts of the city Sunday.

Under the emergency non-essential travel on the roads is prohibited. That means travel anywhere other than work, the doctor or grocery store.

Parking on city streets is also prohibited and all non-essential governement offices and buildings are closed.

If you are faced with an emergency, call 911 but for non-emergency issues call 211 instead.

There are warming centers available at Foster Community Center, Gier Community Center, Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center and Letts Community Center.

Trash pick-up is delayed by 2 days.

City officials remind all residents you must have your sidewalks cleared within 24hours after the storm.
