6 News' Shelby Miller Demonstrates The Frozen T-Shirt Trick

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS STUDIO) - In weather conditions like the ones we're seeing Tuesday, it only takes a few minutes outside before symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia start to show.

6 News Reporter Shelby Miller went outside the WLNS studio to find out just how fast things can freeze.

Shelby: "We wanted to have a little fun in this cold weather, so we decided to show you how fast it'll take this 6 News shirt to freeze. We're dipping it in some warm water now and then we'll hang it outside and meet back up with you guys in a few minutes."

So did the shirt freeze?

(About five minutes later) Shelby: "We're back outside and it's only been just over five minutes and already this shirt is frozen solid. I think it speaks for itself. It's as stiff as a board, which just shows you how cold it is outside."

If you have to go outside, be sure to bundle up and wear a hat, a good pair of boots and gloves.
