Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Members of the Michigan National Guard will conduct several training events in the coming months with Liberia and Latvia.

Michigan officials announced Thursday that the Traveling Contact Teams will participate as part of the State Partnership Program.

Liberian training will take place in Liberia and includes exercises in generator maintenance, mortars, personnel accountability, staff officer development, mine detection systems, and military prosecution and defense evidence and litigation.

Senior leaders from the Michigan National Guard will also visit Liberia in early February.

Latvian training will take place in Latvia, with the exception of combat engineer training in Michigan in late February. Latvian training exercises include exercise planning, airbase management and a regional joint terminal attack controller program review.
