DETROIT, Mich. (WLNS) - The Chevrolet Silverado has been named North American Truck of the Year.

The Silverado beat the Acura MDX and Jeep Cherokee.

The announcement came at the North American International Auto Show on Monday. The auto show runs from January 13 through the 26.

Lansing Plant Communications Manager, Erin Davis said, "congratulations to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the Silverado 1500 on being named the 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year. This is back-to-back wins for GM, since the Cadillac ATS won the 2013 North American Car of the Year award. We, at LGR, were excited to be in the running again with the all-new Cadillac CTS this year. It's such an honor to be recognized for the hard work and high-quality vehicles we are producing in Lansing."
