Lansing GM Grand River Plant Has Strong 2013

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Being named a finalist for car of the year was a big honor for General Motors, Cadillac, and the hard-working employees at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant.

One year ago, the spotlight was on the Cadillac ATS. It helped GM, the auto show and the City of Lansing fire up 2013 with Car of the Year momemtum.

That momemtum kept up in the spring and summer, with GM announcing a nearly $45 million expansion at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant that would add around 200 local jobs by the end of 2014.

But perhaps the biggest new job came at the top for GM, with the company naming Mary Barra as CEO, making her the first female head of a major U.S. automaker.

Meanwhile, the proud automakers and employees in Lansing also celebrated the one millionth vehicle off the assembly line.
