Concerts Coming To Felt Estate With Michigan Grant

Posted: Updated:

HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - A $15,750 Michigan arts grant has been given to The Friends of the Felt Estate to build an outdoor stage for concerts and other cultural events at the Laketown Township site.

The Holland Sentinel reports that the grant came from Friends of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and requires a local match. The stage should be finished in time for concerts this summer.

Pat Hoezee Meyer is director of the Friends of the Felt Estate. She says the improvements will allow for a wide range of concerts and performances.

The mansion grounds have had concerts before. The Green Food Blue Grass Festival attracted thousands of people in 2009. In 2010, eight bands including the Guess Who performed.

The mansion was completed in 1928.
