Officials ID Dumpster Dogs' Owner, Remove More Than 25 Animals From Home

EATON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - Eaton County officials have identified the owner of the three dead dogs found in a dumpster in Charlotte.

Animal control removed 15 dogs, six cats, three rabbits and a large number of birds from an elderly Brookfield Township woman's home. Eaton County Animal Control described the woman's home as "unsanitary." They'll keep the aniamls while the investigation continues.

The Eaton County Sheriff's office is still investigating because they believe another person is involved and may be responsible for disposing the three dead dogs.

After authorities get results of the three dogs necropsies they will turn the case over to the Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney. The prosecuting attorney will detemine if the woman and the believed additional suspect will face any charges.

The dogs were found frozen by a Payless employee in Charlotee in the store's dumpster.
