Mother Charged With Death Of Newborn Daughter, Scheduled For Hearing

UPDATE: Amanda Redman's pre-trial hearing has been re-scheduled for Friday, January 24.

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS)- The trial against a Jackson mother charged with the death of her 27-day-old-daughter begins.

Amanda Redman is scheduled to appear in a Jackson County courthouse for a pre-trial hearing Friday.

Redman is charged with involuntary manslaughter and second degree child abuse, when police say she fell asleep on the couch with her infant daughter, unintentionally smothering her to death.

Amillia, 27-days-old was found dead in her home on April 2. Authorities say the cause of death was suffocation.

Redman has six other children none of which are in her care.
