Secretary Of State Announces Online, Phone Check-In Options

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - For those who can't stand waiting in line, the Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson has come up with a new way to check in. It's called MI-TIME Line.

Customers can check in online, by phone call or via text message to hold their place in line at their local branch. The new technology will also call or send a text message when the customer is about to be called.

For those who don't have a cell phone, customers can check in at the MI-TIME Line kiosk inside the Secretary of State office.

The system launched last week in the Capital Area SUPER!Center in Lansing as well as in Flint and Secretary of State officials say customers like the idea so far.

The technology is currently in 10 of the busiest offices and will be coming to more offices in a few weeks, including Clinton Township, Detroit, Livonia, Pontia, Southfield, Taylor and Troy.

The Secretary of State hopes the new system will reduce wait times.
