LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Potter Park Zoo is welcoming a new resident, an 8-month-old moose from Anchorage, Alaska.

Her name is Willow and she was rescued after her mother was hit by a car in Alaska. Willow got her name because her food prefernece is willow leaves.

Willow leaves were frozen during the fall so that Willow has a supply to eat through the winter. Zoo staff is working with county parks, Michigan State University and local tree services to provide a daily source of fresh willow for her.

The zoo is working on an exhibit for the public to visit Willow, but she is not available at this time.
