LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Michigan GOP Chairman Bobby Schostak spoke to Dave Agema asking him to step down. How he responded was not immediately reported.
"For the good of the party, we believe Dave Agema should resign," the two announced.
Agema has come under serious fire after making anti-gay and anti-Muslum remarks in recent radio interviews and on social media.
Several republicans have already called for his resignation. Mid-Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers, Congressman Dave Camp, Congresswoman Candice miller and GOP Congressman Fred Upton all say they want Agema out, too.
Agema defended himself against the criticism in a Facebook post saying, "people are feeding half-truths to the news within the GOP, stirring up divisiveness." As of publication, Agema says he will not step down.
