Warming Shelters Open Due To Frigid Temps

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Due to the frigid tempetures and expected snow, warming shelters are opening up to the public.

The following shelters are open Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 9p.m., Saturday 8:30a.m. to 5p.m. and closed Sunday.

 - Foster Community Center, 200 N Foster, Lansing, 517-483-4233

 - Gier Community Center, 2400 Hall Street, Lansing, 517-483-4313

 - Letts Community Center, 1220 W Kalamzoo St, Lansing, 517-483-4311

 - Alfreda Schmidt Southside Community Center, 5825 Wise Rd, Lansing, 517-483-6686

Other options also include the Lansing Mall, Meijer stores and local public libraries during their normal business hours.

Volunteers of America will also be open as a warming shelter, while Advent Day Shelter will be open Saturday and Sunday from 8a.m. to 5:30p.m.
