Lawmakers Reach Agreement On Farm Bill

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Lawmakers have reached an agreement on a farm bill that will allow for food stamp benefits to continue for most Americans who are now recieving them. The agreement cuts also continues subsidies to farmers.

Monday was the final day for lawmakers to come to an agreement on the bill. If they hadn't struck the deal, farming policies from the 1940's would have automatically kicked in, which many feared would have caused the prices of things like produce and milk to skyrocket.

The farm bill could be voted on as early as Wednesday.
