MSU President Explains Why Campus Was Open Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Michigan State's President Lou Anna Simon was the keynote speaker Tuesday at the Lansing Chamber's luncheon held at the MSU Kellogg Center.

Simon's presentation included a call for the community to take action to help retain more graduates in the area.

6 News also spoke to her about MSU being open Tuesday during such frigid temperatures, despite the University of Michigan having a snow day.

"The U of M wasn't closed earlier when we did because their circumstances may well be different there because the weather modeling we use for wind chill is related to this area. So you could have a different circumstance on the lake. You could have a different circumstance in Detroit, but it's a matter of what happens here," said Simon.
