Budgets Empty At Road Agencies

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- As Michigan continues to face uncooperative weather conditions, county road agencies all across the state are keeping a close eye on their dwindling budgets.

According to the County Road Association of Michigan on top of quickly depleting maintenance budgets they've been facing other odds that are making the problem worse.

Most Michigan roads are the responsibility of county agencies which they say have seen significant losses in funding and staff over the last decade.

Their calls for action have not been met they've urged legislators to increase funds and include a one time surplus revenue from 2013 to 2014.

They're also asking for a more permanent funding solution.

With six weeks still to go this Michigan winter will be remembered as an expensive one for Michigan roads.
