Man Walking Dies After Being Hit By Car

Posted: Updated:

DEWITT, Mich. (WLNS) - A crash in Dewitt Township killed a man walking and sent the driver of the car to the hospital.

Police say just after 6p.m. Tuesday, a 59-year-old man driving a car hit a 34-year-old DeWitt Township man as he walked along Turner Street just north of Sheridan Road.

Police say after the car hit the man, the driver continued on for about a quarter of a mile until his car hit a mailbox and got stuck in a ditch.

The driver was taken to the hospital, and right now police say they do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

They do say they are looking into blood samples from the driver to determine if any other substances factored into the crash.
