Crews In Lenawee Co. Encounter 10-Feet Snowdrifts

Posted: Updated:

MORENCI, Mich. (AP) - Crews in one Michigan county encountered 10-foot-high snowdrifts while working to clear roads in rural areas.

Lenawee County Road Commission operations manager Jason Schnaidt tells The Daily Telegram of Adrian that work through Tuesday left roads "passable."

Schnaidt says 10-foot snowdrifts were encountered on Sims Highway, just west of Morenci. He says big drifts were found in other parts of the county as well.

Schnaidt says plow drivers encountered a few vehicles stuck in snow on Tuesday, but less than on Sunday and Monday when abandoned vehicles slowed efforts to open roads. Snowplow drivers planned to work again Wednesday to widen the path on rural roads.

Drifting snow has been a problem in Lenawee County since Saturday. The winds eased Tuesday, making it less of an issue.
