LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Lansing Mall was evacuated Wednesday due to a large gas leak in the area.

The mall was re-opened around 4p.m. after fire officials deemed the building safe.

It happened near Saginaw Highway between Canal Rd and Elmwood Road, where Lansing Mall is located.

Consumers Energy went through the mall with local fire officials and determined the building was safe for shoppers to re-enter.

No homes were evacuated during the incident. Officials say if you smell gas, always call 911.
