Barry County Man Dies From Influenza

Posted: Updated:

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - One person has died from influenza, according to the Barry-Eaton County Health Department.

The health department said "influenza-like illness is circulating at high levels in Barry and Eaton counties" in a press release Wednesday.

There have been 12 residents in Eaton County and three residents in Barry County with confirmed cases of influenza. However, many with symptoms don't seek medical treatment and often those who do, aren't given a test for it. Thus, the confirmed cases number are likely significantly lower than the actual numbers.

Officials are urging people to get the vaccination for anyone over 6-months.
