"Dance Around The World" Brings International Dance To Okemos

Posted: Updated:

OKEMOS, Mich. (WLNS) - We may be facing Michigan's bitter cold, but that doesn't mean you have to stay cooped up at home, all bundled up.

Sometimes it's better to just let your mind take you to a tropical place.

On Thursday's 6ThisMorning, Reporter Francesca Amiker went across the world to learn dances from Russia and China.

Learning a different culture's dance isn't always easy, but the Meridian Senior Center in Okemos is more than happy to teach you new dance moves from all over the world.

These International Dance Classes are part of the Meridian Senior Center's "Dance Around the World" event, which begins Friday, Jan. 31 and runs through Friday, Feb. 28.

Some of the other countries represented during the five-week event include China, India, Israel, Spain and South America. Dance classes are open to the public.

All classes begin at 3:15 p.m. and include stretching and a little history of the dances.

The Meridian Senior Center is located in Okemos at 4000 N. Okemos Rd, inside Chippewa Middle School.

Don't miss the videos about for a preview at some of the international dance moves you can learn.
