Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero Delivers State Of The City

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero placed a heavy focus on business partnerships and economic development during his ninth State of the City address on Thursday.

"We must have a global perspective to compete, and win, in this global economy," he said.

Bernero highlighted several business initiatives he said will help drive Lansing's economic engine and bring more jobs to the region. One of those initiatives includes a business partnership with two Italy-based businesses slated to place offices in Lansing and bring dozens of jobs over the course of the next few years.

The multi-million dollar Red Cedar Renaissance project and the Niowave expansion were also big topics of business discussion, as was the Lansing Board of Water and Light's response to the December ice storm.
