Consumers Energy Evaluating Gas Lines After Gas Release

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Delta Township Fire Department is working with Consumers Energy to evaluate gas lines after Wednesday's gas release.

Consumers Energy will be evaluating outside areas near about 7,300 homes and buildings in Delta Township. Crews won't need to go inside unless they find gas in the structure.

This is a pre-cautionary measure that will ensure the integrity of underground natural gas. The evaluation comes after Wednesday's overpressure incident.

The evaluating area is bordered by Lansing Road on the south, Waverly Road on the east, Willow Highway on the north and Canal Road on the west.

Officials say there's no need for concern or to evacuate an area, but if you smell gas, call 911 immediately.
