Posted: Updated:

JACKSON,  Mich. (WLNS) - Consumers Energy originally had a plan to build a $750 million power plant in Genesee County, but now that plan is on hold.

Instead the utility will buy an existing plant in Jackson.

The utility plans to pay $155 million dollars to take over the DPC Juniper LLC building, located off of Chapin Street in Jackson.

Right now the plant employs about 20 people. Consumers Energy plans to take ownership in 2016.
