'Woody' The Groundhog To Make Spring Prediction Feb. 2

Posted: Updated:

HOWELL, Mich. (WLNS) - As we know, Michigan's winter can last for months and when it snows, it feels like it lasts even longer.

But the cold and snow could dissapear early if Michigan's official groundhog does not see her shadow.

'Woody' the groundhog will make her 16th prediction this year and on Sunday, Feb. 2 everyone is invited to take part in the celebration.

6 This Morning Reporter Francesca Amiker spent the morning with Woody at the Howell Conference & Nature Center to learn more about Groundhog Day.

The celebration begins on Sunday at 7:45 a.m. Woody will make her prediction at 8:15 a.m. sharp, followed by breakfast at 9 a.m. There will also be a "crazy outfit contest" for kids. The child with the most outrageous outfit will win one free week of summer day camp.

Woody will make her prediction regardless of the weather outside.

The Howell Nature Center is located at 1005 Triangle Lake Rd in Howell.
