TMSG: Teen Pageant Winner Uses Platform To Save Lives

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - A Jackson teen pageant winner is using her platform to spread a life-saving cause to area schools.

"I'd love to see it go statewide, that would be a dream come true," said Jennifer Hulobowicz.

The Miss Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen has been taking a hands-on approach to helping others by teaching hands only CPR. The 16-year-old Michigan Center Junior saw the skill become her crowning achievement not long after winning a Miss America crown, but also experiencing a personal loss.

"A beloved school teacher passed away of a cardiac arrest so I got to thinking what could I do to make sure this doesn't happen again," said Jenny, who then partnered with the Michigan Red Cross and fought for hands-only CPR to be taught in Jackson area schools.

"All 13 school districts, their health and PE teachers have been trained in this via Jenny," said Scott Koziol, the superintendent of Michigan Center Schools. "It's a good example for those kids to see if you put your mind to something and then stick to it, it can get done."

"I want to get as many people involved as I can. I have so many supplies. I want to go out into my community and give. It's very life changing," said Jennifer.

If you'd like to help Jennifer's cause, call the Michigan Center School District at 517-764-5778. Her hands only CPR classes in Jackson will be going on for the rest of the school year.
