Man Linked To Gun Used In 7 Deaths To Get Sentence

Posted: Updated:

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A Grand Rapids-area man could be locked up for many years for providing a gun that was used in the deaths of seven people in 2011.

Michael Allen is returning to court Monday. He pleaded guilty last summer to supplying the gun to Rodrick Dantzler, who killed his estranged wife, their daughter and five other people before killing himself in Grand Rapids.

Allen's sentencing guideline is calculated as high as 10 years in prison, although federal Judge Paul Maloney has flexibility. Defense attorney Frank Stanley says Allen didn't know what Dantzler would do with the gun.

Prosecutors say Allen, an ex-convict, knew he could be in trouble because of his ties to the gun.

A man who illegally had the gun before Allen is serving a five-year sentence.
