Former DeWitt Twp. Fire Dept. Trainee Sentenced To 5 To 35 Years

DEWITT, Mich. (WLNS) - A former DeWitt Township fire department trainee has been sentenced after he plead guilty to starting a fire in his apartment building.

Matthew Landfair, 36 is sentenced to 5 to 35 years in prison. Landfair was ordered to pay more than $380,000 restitution to eight victims.

Police believe Landfair intentionally started the fire at the Alana Woods Apartment Complex on July 14, 2013 which destroyed 12 units and left 23 people without a home.
