LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A long delayed farm bill that will affect hundreds of thousand here in Michigan has been approved by the Senate. President Obama is expected to sign it on Friday here in mid-Michigan.

The legislation would expand federal crop insurance and consolidate some agricultural programs.

A big portion of the farm bill would cut about $800 million from the food stamp program, which is about 1 percent. It also aims to crackdown on food stamps fraud.

6 News will speak with Senator Debbie Stabenow tonight. Check back for later editions of this story.
