Gov. Snyder To Announce Budget Proposal

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Wednesday morning Governor Rick Snyder will outline his new budget and democrats may like the key details of his speech.

The governor isn't saying much about how he plans to break up his budget during the speech Wednesday morning, but with a surplus of one billion dollars, democrats are eager to see some of the money go toward middle class families and k-12 education.

Legislative democrats are asking the governor to restore some of the income tax credits that he took away three years ago. This will allow working families to receive the benefits of the Family Income Tax Reduction Plan.

Democrats are also criticizing the 3% hike in school aid funds, saying its just not enough. Wednesday morning Gov. Snyder will propose more than 300 million dollars go toward k-12 spending, of which more than 250 million will go to offset increased school retirement costs.

Snyder will also propose spending 14 million dollars on an invasive species plan that will create jobs to protect the state.

Be sure to keep it here on 6News, we will be at the capitol to hear Governor Snyder's full budget plan.
