EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - As you can imagine the President coming to East Lansing is a major event in the area.

So how will that effect your travel plans?

Air Force One is scheduled to land shortly after noon today at Capitol Region International Airport.

From there President Obama will head to the Mc-Phail Center on MSU's campus.

If you plan on traveling with public transportation some CATA routes could be changed.

There are possible detours on 8 routes including 20, 24, 25, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 39. Details of the route-by-route changes are not available for security purposes and are subject to change.

If you plan on flying out of lansing today you'll definitely want to give yourself extra time to get there and prepare for possible delays.

Extra security is in place and no planes will be allowed to take off or land while the President is in the area.

The event is closed to the public, but 6 News will have complete team coverage of his stay. You can watch his speech live on-air and streaming on www.wlns.com.

President Obama is expected to begin his speech on Friday around 2 p.m.
