Volunteers To Help Students File For Financial Aid

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Volunteers will help college-bound students fill out financial aid applications at spots across the state this Sunday.

The Michigan College Goal events will be held at more than 30 locations. The idea is to help prospective students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Michigan College Goal is a collaboration of the Michigan Department of Education and other groups.

The program's mission is to increase the number of students who continue education beyond high school and earn post-secondary degrees. The FAFSA is required of students seeking financial aid, including grants, loans and scholarships.

At Michigan College Goal events, financial aid experts will be available, at no charge, to guide students and their families through each step of completing and filing the FAFSA.
