Horses Taken Away From Farmer

Posted: Updated:

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - In Livingston County a Cohocta Township woman is once again facing animal cruelty charges after one of her horses was found dead.

According to our media partners at WHMI nine horses were removed from 71-year-old Velva Jean Wainscott's farm Thursday.

Wainscott's farm is located on Byron Road. Officials say the animals were visibly thin and didn't have any food or water when they arrived.

This isn't the first time animal control has gone to the farm.

Wainscott's horses were taken from her in 2012, but were returned when charges were dismissed.

Wainscott is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
