T.S.A. Bans Liquids On Sochi-Bound Flights

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Opening ceremonies for the Winter Olympics in Sochi begin Friday.

If you're planning on heading to Russia, the Transportation Security Administration says you won't be allowed to bring any liquids in your carry on bags.

That's because a warning has been issued by the Department of Homeland Security about a new terror threat.

The potential attacks would involve terrorists trying to smuggle explosives onto planes hidden inside tubes of toothpaste.

The T.S.A.'s ban includes more than just liquids, it also includes all gel, aerosols and powders in carry-on luggage.

Right now, the government is not aware of any threat to the United States.
