Small Business Tax Exemption Deadline Today

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - If you're a business owner, Monday is the last day to apply for a major state tax exemption that could save you loads of cash.

Michigan business owners have until the end of the business day to file a form that could save them money on their 2014 tax bill.

Businesses valued at $ 80,000 or less are encouraged to apply with their local government.

Lansing City Assessor William Fowler says the money saved from the tax exemption could help businesses with their other expenses, which could grant a nice return for smaller entrepreneurs.

"This particular exemption applies to commercial, industrial properties within the city. So the smaller entrepreneur will have a direct benefit from this. They'll be exempt from property taxes on those assets," said Fowler.

Fowler's office has already received nearly 1,000 forms so far and they will take post-marked forms.
