New Law Limits Ammunition Possession By Felons

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Governor Snyder has just put pen to paper and signed several new bills into law.

The new legislation puts a probationary period on felons before they can possess ammunition.

Felons are prohibited from posessing ammunition until three to five years after serving their punishment.

Michigan already prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms for a certain amount of time. The governor said the new laws close a loophole to apply similar provisions to ammunition possession and simplify sentencing procedures.
