Fire Station In Okemos Shuts Down Due To Health Hazard

Posted: Updated:

OKEMOS, Mich. (WLNS) - A 57-year-old fire station in Okemos shut down Wednesday after the building was deemed a health hazard.

Meridian Township's fire chief said the conditions at the Central Fire Station on Clinton Street were worsening and putting workers at risk. The station has leaking pipes and falling ceiling tiles, but it's the mold left over from leaking water that's lead to health concerns for those working in the building.

All equipment in the station has already been removed.
