U Of M President To Speak At Economic Club Luncheon

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - They may be rival schools, but when it comes to higher education and Michigan's economy, both the University of Michigan and Michigan State know the importance of partnership.

President Mary Sue Coleman of the University of Michigan has introduced several initiatives to the university that have not only improved overall student life, but helped the university add to the economic vitality of the state.

On Thursday afternoon, U of M's President will share those concepts at the economic club luncheon.

Coleman says the worlds of government, philanthropy and business are critical to keeping Michigan education affordable.

She plans to introduce several initiatives that she says will impact generations of students and their life on campus and society as a whole.

President Coleman will retire at the end of the current academic year. The University of Michigan will bring in Brown University's Provost Mark Schissel as her replacement.
