Florist Says Valentine's Day Bouquet Prices Have Doubled

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - "A rose, by any other name would still smell as sweet."

What you might not find very sweet is the price.

If you're planning to buy flowers for your sweetheart this Valentine's Day, expect to pay more.

Florists at Smith Floral in Lansing say the cost of Valentine's Day bouquets have almost doubled in the last week.

That's because wholesalers raise their price, sometimes 50 to 75 percent, which forces local shops to raise their prices.

This rough winter isn't helping either.

Smith Floral is planning to delivery about 400 arrangements on Valentine's Day.
