MSU Launches 'Spartan Advocate' Site

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Michigan State University is leading the way on a new advocacy effort to keep state education funding a priority.

MSU leaders are calling on students, alumni and anyone who supports higher learning to help out.

"The Spartan Advocate" is an online resource where supporters can sign up and connect with legislators with the goal of impacting educational policy.

MSU says state funding to the university has been cut by more than $81 million over the last 10 years and officials say if state appropriations had kept up with inflation, tuition would be more than 20 percent lower than it is today.
