One Dead, Two In Hospital Including Pregnant Woman After Crash

Posted: Updated:

DELTA TWP., Mich. (WLNS) - One person is dead and two were taken to a hospital after a Friday morning crash.

It happened around 11:25 a.m. Friday. Police say the two survivors are in serious condition, one of whom is a pregnant woman. Police say her injuries may be life-threatening.

The crash occurred after a van traveling northbound on Lansing Road collided with a car heading westbound on Mt. Hope. Police haven't determined what specifically caused the crash.

"We don't have a lot of accidents [at that intersection] but when we do they tend to be pretty serious, largely because of the speed on Lansing Road," said Lt. Jeff Campbell of the Eaton County Sheriff's Department.

Campbell asks that all drivers use caution in the area, and says the department wishes the best for the family of the victim and of those in the hospital.

"It's obviously very tragic. Hopefully those other people involved, their injuries aren't going to turn out life-threatening but we just don't know yet," Campbell said.

The intersection was closed for nearly four hours while crews investigated and cleaned up the accident area.

Police have not identified the people involved in the accident, and will not do so until they are certain family members of all involved have been notified.
