Small Plane Lands On Ice Near Mackinac Island

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) - Police say a small plane with seven people on board made an emergency landing on the ice near Mackinac Island after experiencing engine trouble.

No injuries were reported after the Monday morning landing. WWTV-WWUP reports the plane was heading to the island from St. Ignace.

State police say the plane was to be towed using snowmobiles to St. Ignace.

Mackinac Island is located in Lake Huron between Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas, and is a popular summer destination for tourists.
