Music Label Remembers Dustyn Frolka's Passion

Posted: Updated:

BATH TWP. Mich. (WLNS) - Bath Township police continue to review surveillance video to look for clues in the homicide investigation of 19-year-old Dustyn Frolka.

6 News Nick perreault explains Dustyn's ties to music and what some are doing to make sure his memory lives on in the music world he was known simply as D-Fro.

"His delivery was incredible. He had a great knack for bringing to light situations you could relate to yourself, just a great artist," said Blake Selby, Owner, Northern Hype Entertainment.

Selby met Dustyn Frolka back in 2012 when they were students at MSU.

Not long after Selby signed Frolka to his music label.

"There a lot of artists that may have the talent, but lack the drive."

Selby says D-Fro didn't. He had plenty of drive and passion for his work.

"He was very good at interacting with friends and fans and being a very active musician in terms of on-stage and off stage, which really impressed me," said Selby.

When he learned the news Frolka died Saturday evening shortly after he was found along I-69, Selby says he was in shock and disbelief.

"It was a widespread hit around the Michigan hip-hop community, how could this happen, how could this happen to somebody that young."

Frolka left behind a daughter, says Selby.

Selby is pulling his resources together to throw a benefit for Frolka and his family.

"Hopefully making this college fund for his daughter from this show that we're going to be doing will help her to have some experience that she might not of otherwise had."

Bath Township police have yet to release a cause of death in this case. Anyone with information should contact Bath Twp. police at (517) 641-6271.
