Committee wants $100-Million for Winter Road Bills

Posted: Updated:

The Michigan Senate Appropriations Committee voted 10-3 this morning to spend $100-million to fix potholes and to help local units of government with their winter road and street maintenance bills.

The unusually high costs to repair, plow and salt roadways this winter have pushed maintenance budgets to the limit, and in many cases over the limit, this winter.

The vote by the Senate committee this morning could result in a possible vote in the full Senate later today.

The committee also voted to adjust the state's budget to account for a delay in the expansion of Medicaid.  Expanding Mwedicaid to more low-income adults was supposed to occur in January before senators delayed it until April.
