Strong Winds May Cause Power Outages

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - On top of melting snow, rain and floods, mid-Michigan is also expecting strong wind.

Mid-Michigan became vulnerable back in December 2013 when the ice storm hit, knocking out power and tearing down branches and power lines all across the area.

If you take a look, much of that mess still hasn't been cleaned up because of all of the snow and ice this winter.

About 2,000 Lansing Board of Water and Light customers were without power briefly Thursday morning.

We're not sure if those were weather related, but officials say strong winds later on may cause outages.

This time BWL says they're ready.

"We've got nine line crews on standby starting beginning tomorrow (Thursday) through Friday in anticipation of severe wind," said Steve Serkaian, Lansing Board of Water and Light.
