Highway Pothole Damage Costs Could Be Reimbursed

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - This winter has been rough on our roads.

If you're car or truck has been damaged by a pot-hole you could get reimbursed by the state.

There are certain conditions, though.

First, the pothole must be on a state trunk-line, meaning a highway with an M, I or US in front it it, for example M-43 or US-127.

Second you must prove M-Dot failed to maintain the highway in reasonable repair.

You must also prove that the state knew of the pothole and had an opportunity to repair it or that the condition existed for more than 30 days.
