Two Lansing Men Accused Of Firing Shots From Car

LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Two Lansing men were arraigned Friday on firearm charges.

Witnesses told officers they saw two men in a car firing a handgun into the air. The pair took off down the street afterwards.

It happened around 2:10 a.m. Friday in the area of E. Michigan and Cedar St.

Officers found the suspects shortly after in the parking lot of a convience store at Pennsylvania and Kalamazoo.

One suspect was arrest without incident and the second resisted arrest, but was eventually taken into custody. Officers say the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Officers found a handgun and ammunition inside the suspect car.

The suspects are currently being held at the Lansing Police Detention facility. The two were arraigned on the following charges.

The first suspect, 31-year-old Arthur Garza was arraigned on a felony charge for carrying conceleaded weapons and a misdemeanor for operating with a high BAC. In the alternative to the second charge is a misdemeanor charge for operating while intoxicated, a misdemeanor charge for posession of a fire arm under the influence. Police say Garza is a habitual offender and this is his second offense notice. Garza's bond is set at $50,000.

 

The second suspect, 29-year-old Andrew Roger Barbour was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge for assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. His bond is set at $25,000.

Garza and Barbour have a pre-exam conference and preliminary hearing scheduled for early March.
