Students Raise Money To Honor Classmate Who Died From Brain Cancer

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) - A group of students from Marble Elementary School in East Lansing are trying to raise money to buy a bench to honor one of their classmates, who passed away last year.

Charlie Waller was in kindergarten when he died from a brain tumor.

His classmates say he always tried to make other students feel like they belonged.

So they're trying to raise funds to buy a permanent bench they'll call the "Buddy Bench" to welcome students.

They're selling bracelets to try and raise the $500 they need.

"They sort of remind you of Charlie and they kind of give you happiness. Because they're so colorful. And they just remind you of all the good stuff," said Caleb Lampi, created idea for Buddy Bench Bracelets.

The bracelets will be sold before school and during lunch until Wednesday.
