Garage Fire Overnight Puts Neighbors At Risk

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- A fire gets out of control starting at a home and moving to another Tuesday morning.

Lansing fire crews were called to the 1300 block of West Rundle Avenue around 1 a.m., where they say the fire got an early start on them.

Officials say a garage at one home burned completely down, and the flames then threatened a neighboring home, forcing them to cut off the gas as they feared an explosion.

Thankfully crews worked fast to put everything out and limit the only loss and damage to the garage next door.

The people living on both properties got out safely according to officials.

"It was pretty scary. I couldn't believe no one in the neighborhood was up. I was the only person out here. I knocked on the neighbors door, got them up, got them out, she got her dogs out, and I was just lucky I was up cause the house next door would have went up," said neighbor, Bruce Doll.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
